Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's Chef Michael Dane Has a Simple Change to Improve Your Diet

Here's some food for thought: You don't need to make colossal changes to your diet to see results.

At least, that's the advice private chef Michael Dane—who works closely with Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra—wants you to know.

"Go for whole foods first," he told E! News in an exclusive interview. "Instead of buying a dried fruit snack with seasoning, which has preservatives in it, go buy the fruit and seasoning. You'd be surprised at how amazing it is. It doesn't have concentrated sugars, it's fresh and so much better for you."

After all, the culinary expert said preservatives can stir up health issues.

"The things that cause weight gain or make people have chronic inflammation are Xanthan gum and Guar gum," he noted of the food additives that are used as thickening agents. "These keep sauces emulsified and looking pretty in the bottle. Those are the things that people need to eliminate from their diet."

He added, "Making these little swaps will go such a long way."

In fact, these small changes will have a major impact on your overall well-being.

"Chronic stress leads to inflammation in your body," he explained. "Pay attention to your mental and emotional health because that has physical consequences to your weight and longevity, too. And make sure you're exercising. It doesn't mean joining a gym, just walk."

As he put it, "No one ever went on a walk and came back and felt worse."

The food expert firmly believes that creating these lifestyle habits are more doable than you think.

"The average person, despite not having access to a personal trainer or chef, has a great advantage [over celebrities]," Michael explained. "They can create a regular, healthy environment for their body and mind, so it's almost easier."

And, he added, before you turn to trendy diets or weight-loss medications, such as Ozempic, think about the long-term effects.

"There is no magic bullet to cure your health," he said. "It's in front of you the whole time: Eat real food, avoid chemicals in your body and exercise."
